Your Opportunity

We are looking for an organised and people-focused Vocational Placement Officer (AO3) to support students with vocational placement opportunities within Educational Delivery Support (EDS) at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech.  

This is a temporary full-time opportunity until 31 December 2026 based at the Bracken Ridge Campus, responsible for supporting Bracken Ridge, Eagle Farm and Caboolture campus based students.

This role helps domestic and international students connect with suitable host employers so they can complete required vocational placement and gain practical workplace experience.

You’ll work closely with students, Host Providers, internal teams, and other stakeholders to organise placements, prepare documentation, maintain accurate records and follow up issues when they arise.

This is a busy administrative and coordination role suited to someone who enjoys helping students, building relationships, working with systems, solving problems and keeping information accurate and up to date.

This position reports to the Operational Manager, Educational Delivery Support, and works closely with the broader EDS team and educational delivery teams. The role may be required to work across SkillsTech training centres, including Acacia Ridge, Alexandra Hills, Eagle Farm and Bracken Ridge. 

What we are looking for

  • A practical approach to problem solving, especially when placement issues or student needs change
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with Host Providers and other stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn and apply vocational placement requirements, including policies, procedures and compliance obligations
  • Good written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear emails, records, reports and placement documents
  • A team-focused attitude, with the ability to work independently when needed
  • A genuine interest in supporting students to gain workplace experience and move toward employment

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide information to students at orientation on the requirements for Vocational Placement
  • Coordinate vocational placement arrangements for domestic and international students
  • Work with students, Host Providers and internal teams to match students with suitable placement opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with Host Providers and look for new placement opportunities in the community
  • Assist in the completion of Vocational Placement Deeds between TAFE Queensland and Placement Providers
  • Ensure Placement Providers are prepared for placements, and are provided with prescribed documentation
  • Maintain accurate placement records using student management systems and other software
  • Monitor student progress on placement, follow up issues and help identify practical solutions when concerns arise
  • Support compliance activities, reporting, planning documents and correspondence related to vocational placement
  • Gather logbooks and prepare them for assessment for educational staff
  • Finalise results in the SMS for placements
  • Work with the broader EDS team to support consistent placement processes and keep staff informed of relevant changes
  • Contribute to improving templates, processes and ways of working across vocational placement

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  1. Understanding vocational placement requirements
    Ability to learn and apply the rules, policies and processes that support vocational placement for domestic and international students.
  2. Communication and customer service
    Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, Host Providers, and internal teams.
  3. Records, reporting and administration
    Ability to maintain accurate placement records, monitor placement activity and prepare clear correspondence, reports and planning documents.
  4. Systems and computer skills
    Ability to confidently use computer systems, databases and software to enter, check and manage information.
  5. Organisation, problem solving and teamwork
    Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to changing circumstances, solve problems, improve processes and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Requirements

Mandatory requirements:

  • Nil 

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in administration, student support, vocational placement, work experience coordination, or a busy customer service environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Confidence using student management systems, databases or other computer systems
  • A current driver’s licence, as the role involves travel across SkillsTech training centres
