About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more thatn 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.
Mareeba experiences a tropical savanna climate, characterized by a short, hot wet season and a long, warm dry season. Agriculture and tourism drive the local economy, with diverse tropical fruits, vegetables, poultry, and cattle contributing to the region's prosperity. The Mareeba Rodeo and FNQ Country Music Festival are popular annual events that celebrate the town's vibrant culture. Located just 65km west of Cairns and its international airport, Mareeba provides all the essential amenities and services for a comfortable family lifestyle.
The Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, located 25 kilometres south of Mareeba, accommodates high and low security prisoners and provides a remand and reception. Lotus Glen Correctional Centre is supported by Mareeba Hospital.
About your role:
Provide comprehensive health support services across all areas of Lotus Glen, including:
- Medical Unit: Assist with clinical workflows, patient coordination, and administrative duties to support medical staff.
- Low Custody Unit: Facilitate health assessments, routine care, and health education tailored to the needs of low custody individuals.
- Offender Development and Treatment (ODT) Program: Support therapeutic and rehabilitative health initiatives, ensuring continuity of care and program compliance.
