About the role:

  • Lead and inspire the Department of Surgery, setting the clinical vision and driving excellence in surgical care across Central Queensland.
  • Influence the future of surgical services through strategic leadership, workforce planning, service development and clinical governance.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of surgeons by supporting the education, training and supervision of surgical trainees, medical students and medical staff.
  • Champion a culture of quality, safety, innovation and continuous improvement to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Balance executive leadership with an active clinical practice (minimum 0.5 FTE), providing expert surgical care while shaping the future of surgery across CQ Health

About you:

  • MBBS (or equivalent) with eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • FRACS-qualified General Surgeon with Specialist registration (or eligibility) through AHPRA.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including maintaining continuous professional development requirements with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
  • Accredited endoscopic skills are highly desirable.
  • Proven commitment to leading and participating in an education program for clinical staff, with a demonstrated ability to construct and maintain opportunities for research and education.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $587,506 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $265,550 - $281,545 p.a. (L25 – L27)
  • A salary rate between $222,059 - $257,932 p.a. (L18 – L24)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
