About the role

This senior clinical role focuses on risk triage and mental health screening in collaboration with police and clinical staff. It involves targeted interventions, high-level liaison, and coordination of comprehensive mental health assessments and care planning across public and private services. The role ensures appropriate information sharing through adherence to ethical and legislative frameworks, including a Memorandum of Understanding between mental health and police services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Collect mental health information on cases referred from established databases and other available sources, and exchange relevant information with QFTAC police staff according to QH-QPS information management procedures.
  • In conjunction with QFTAC police staff, undertake structured risk assessments using standardised tools, and for cases displaying elevated concern collaboratively develop with police further assessment and intervention plans.
  • Undertake telephone mental health screening assessments for the purposes of determining risk issues and appropriate interventions to assist those with major mental health needs.
