The purpose of this role is to provide specialist scientific expertise and clinical leadership within the Molecular Diagnostic Unit, supporting the delivery of high-quality molecular diagnostic services while ensuring compliance with quality, accreditation and operational requirements.

 

What you'll do

In this role you will perform and oversee infectious disease molecular diagnostic testing, provide expert technical advice and guidance to laboratory staff and clients, support PCR suite operations and contamination control processes, coordinate quality assurance and quality control activities, review assay performance and laboratory trends, assist with implementation and verification of new methods and technologies, supervise and mentor scientific and technical staff, manage laboratory resources and consumables, contribute to accreditation compliance activities, and participate in evening, weekend and on-call rosters.

 

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • Holds extensive experience in molecular diagnostics and infectious disease testing
  • Has advanced knowledge of PCR technologies and molecular laboratory operations
  • Can provide technical leadership and scientific expertise within a diagnostic laboratory
  • Has strong knowledge of quality management, quality assurance and accreditation requirements
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Can effectively mentor, supervise and support laboratory staff
