About us:

Cardiac Services delivers specialised inpatient and outpatient care across Central Queensland, supporting people at every stage of their cardiac journey. From critical care in the Coronary Care Unit and cardiac rehabilitation to heart failure management, chest pain assessment and specialist cardiac support, the service is committed to improving heart health and long-term wellbeing.

The Better Cardiac Care model provides culturally safe, multidisciplinary support for First Nations people living with heart disease. Through education, advocacy, care coordination and personalised transition planning, the team helps patients navigate the health system, build confidence in managing their health and achieve better outcomes both in hospital and within their communities.

About the role:

  • Provide advanced clinical leadership and expert nursing care for the Better Cardiac Care (BCC) service, ensuring safe, high-quality and culturally appropriate care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients with cardiac conditions.
  • Deliver expert clinical consultancy, education and advocacy for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, promoting best practice in cardiac care and self-management.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Unit Manager and healthcare teams to strengthen clinical governance, implement evidence-based practice and achieve service performance and quality outcomes.
  • Foster a positive learning culture by mentoring staff, supporting workforce development, driving continuous improvement and maintaining contemporary clinical knowledge and professional standards.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Nursing (or equivalent) is highly regarded. Applicants not currently holding this qualification will be supported to complete it within an agreed timeframe as part of their professional development plan.
  • Demonstrates advanced skills and knowledge in supporting nursing and the healthcare team in the provision of best practice in clinical care for patients, carers and staff in the area of specialty.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills in participating in innovation and change to develop emerging service needs.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $173,368 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $70.58 - $76.63 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
