The Elective Surgery Bookings (ESB) and Preadmission Unit operates a Monday to Friday service, within the hours of 0730-1700.The position contributes to Surgical and Procedural Pathway towards the achievement of national elective surgery targets and Queensland Health’s elective surgery targets for West Moreton Hospital and Health Service including outsourcing surgical care to private health providers. Nurses in the ESB and Preadmission Unit work within a multi-disciplinary team aiming towards a comprehensive plan of care to patients and their families who are waiting for elective and emergency surgery at Ipswich Hospital.

About the role

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Surgery within a Perioperative setting.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Surgery and Perioperative Nursing delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
  • Ability to prioritise clinical and related administrative duties, including effective and efficient planning and organisation of complex caseloads with proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
