About us:

The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service is responsible for delivering Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service while supporting other Mental Health and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Services in the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service. Its primary objective is to ensure access to a comprehensive range of treatment and support services, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, disability support, as well as early intervention, and mental health prevention and promotion.

Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provide a range of innovative services, staffed by multidisciplinary teams with a broad mix of skills, knowledge and professional backgrounds. These currently include Community Services, Specialised Services, Acute and Sub-Acute Bed Based Services, Access Services and Rural Remote and Indigenous Services.

The primary catchment of Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services covers the Cairns and Hinterland region incorporating various areas ranging from Mossman in the north, Tully in the south to Mareeba and Atherton in the west.

About your role: 

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a range of administrative duties with minimal supervision, set work priorities and meet deadlines. Tasks include but are not limited to frontline reception, phone coverage, switchboard, preparing incoming/outgoing mail, client file management, appointment management, resource management, and filing.
  • Coordinating doctor clinics including bulk billing, appointment scheduling, chart preparation as required.
  • Maintaining fleet vehicles including servicing/maintenance, ordering new/replacement vehicles and incident management
