Your new role:

As a Safety and Response Officer, you'll play an important role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors while responding to a wide range of safety and security situations. You'll work as part of a dedicated team to deliver professional, responsive services by:

  • Responding to incidents involving aggression, violence and emergency situations.
  • Using communication and de-escalation techniques to support safe outcomes.
  • Conducting internal and external security patrols.
  • Providing protection and support to staff during high-risk situations.
  • Assisting with emergency responses including fire alarms and facility lockdowns.
  • Monitoring, escorting and supporting patients under clinical direction when required.
  • Building positive relationships with staff, patients and visitors while delivering exceptional customer service.

About you:

We're looking for a resilient and professional individual who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to keeping people safe, with:

  • Experience in security, protective services, law enforcement, corrections or a similar environment (healthcare experience highly regarded).
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • A team-focused approach with excellent customer service skills.
  • Confidence preparing incident reports and following policies and procedures.
  • Physical capability to undertake operational duties, including shift work and patient restraint training.
  • A current C Class driver's licence and commitment to maintaining required vaccinations.

About Corporate Services

Staff employed in Corporate Services work within specific units providing a 24-hour support service to both clinical and non-clinical areas of the Logan Beaudesert Health Network. These work units are as follows:

  • Environmental Services
  • Food Services
  • Patient Administrative Services
  • Healthcare Technology Unit / Central Clinical Equipment Services
  • Safety and Response Team
  • Logan Hospital Car Park
  • Volunteer Program

The functions assigned to the work units are diverse requiring the Manager of each work unit to work autonomously in their respective designated area of responsibility.
