About us:
Lotus Glen Health Service (LGHS) is a rapidly growing division within the CHHHS region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners located at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre (LGCC) and Lotus Glen Open Custody Farm. The Secure Centre has a capacity to house approximately 1268 prisoners and the Open Custody Farm accommodates 148 prisoners. The main catchment area of the centre is North Queensland, with a disproportionately large representation from first nations communities. Nursing cover is provided 24/7 with nursing staff responsible for patient assessment, minor treatment and patient transfers.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will....
- Provide clinical supervision, coordinate and guide mentoring, preceptorship, role modelling and promote cooperation and collaborative teamwork.
- Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards. As a supervisor actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.
- Provide leadership and act as a clinical resource, advisor, mentor, role model, technical expert, to registered nurses/registered midwives, enrolled nurses and members of multi-disciplinary team.
- Work collaboratively with peers and others to create a positive practice environment that achieves best practice outcomes for recipients of healthcare services.
- Promote and support a culture of continuous quality improvement.
