About us: 

Infrastructure Asset Management (IAM) provides planning, construction, operation and maintenance of all Health Service physical facilities, engineering systems, plant and equipment to meet strategic objectives within a quality environment. IAM is staffed with professional, trade operational, and administrative staff. Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, trade assistants and apprentices. The unit is accountable for facility maintenance and asset management in CHHHS and ensures all clinical and administrative buildings are compliant with statutory checks and inspections necessary to comply with Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards. IAM provides 24-hour corrective maintenance and breakdown service for the facilities around the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will....

  • Undertake painting and minor plastering repair works; carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance to comply with all applicable standards including Workplace Health and Safety, Australian Standards, and Relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Assist the Trade Coordinator in carrying out projects and maintenance work, ensure allocated work is carried out promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritise works, projects and timeframes, resources, costs and make responsible and accurate recommendations, to produce an effective work output in terms of quality and quantity, without supervision (duration, parts, equipment, people, contracts, permits, isolations).
  • Comply with and utilise policies, procedures, Regulations and Standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices such as Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policies.
