About the role

As the Senior Medical Officer (Staff Specialist) - Obstetrics, you will play a key leadership role in advancing maternity education and workforce capability across Queensland. Working within the Clinical Skills Development Services (CSDS) team and supporting Queensland Maternity Education (QME) initiatives, you will use your specialist obstetric expertise to design, deliver and evaluate innovative education programs that improve outcomes for women and babies.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • The maintenance of appropriate credentials and working within your awarded Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) as determined by Metro North Health and limited by the Clinical Service Capability Framework (CSCF) of individual facilities. At a minimum, this will require maintenance of registration as a specialist medical practitioner in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Actively taking part in quality improvement, risk management, Peer Review, Morbidity and Mortality Meetings and Audit where appropriate, and to demonstrate positive change as a result and as required.
  • Demonstrating ethical practice and decision making in both clinical and non-clinical areas, including fulfilling all responsibilities of this role in accordance with Metro North Values and the Code of Conduct of the Queensland Public Service at all times.
  • Being aware of and complying with legislation that applies to your area, as well as contributing to, and following Queensland Health, Metro North Health and local Policies and Procedures as published from time to time.
  • Attending Technical Simulation Training (TST) and Fundamentals of Debriefing (FOD) OR provide evidence of experience in simulation education and debriefing.
