What you'll be doing

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Implement and monitor nutritional care according to predetermined guidelines and under the supervision of an Accredited Practising Dietitian.
  • Conduct nutrition screening, meal audits and patient reviews that include, but are not limited to the following: completing malnutrition screening, collecting patient's food preferences, conducting meal-time audits and supplement tolerance reviews. Provide feedback to dietitians on findings, escalate concerns to dietitians as per guidelines and assist in discharge planning.
  • Provide education for clients on therapeutic diets as delegated by a dietitian (e.g. high energy and high protein eating) using predetermined guidelines and handouts.

What we're looking for

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide a defined range of assessments and clinical interventions under supervision and direction of a Dietitian and undertake operational and administrative duties relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clients and the multidisciplinary team, with a good understanding of own scope of practice.  
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and assume responsibility for the assigned workload, including the use of effective and efficient planning and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage in professional development and supervision as well as contribute to service improvement activities in order to ensure the delivery of high quality care.
