Staff Specialist - Psychiatrist

Provide clinical care within the Prison Mental Health Service which provides specialist mental health services to Correctional Centres in South East Queensland. The Prison Mental Health Service (PMHS) provides a multi-disciplinary in reach service to people who are incarcerated in correctional centres across South East Queensland. The primary goal of PMHS is to identify individuals who have a severe mental illness or are at risk of developing mental illness or are at risk of developing mental illness while incarcerated

What we're looking for
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Uphold the organisation's values in your everyday actions as well as adhering to the Code of Conduct to consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way.
- Have an in-depth understanding of the Queensland Public Mental Health Services (QPMHS) Models of Service Delivery Framework and how these models guide Adult Mental Health Service Delivery.
- Provide expert leadership and transparent accountability for the clinical team.
- In collaboration with the team, provide leadership to the team regarding service improvements, evaluation and innovative treatments and recovery focus.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, clients and stakeholders, NGO partners and other stakeholders.
- Provide professional and clinical supervision to psychiatry trainees and contribute to the delivery of teaching for medical students, and prevocational junior doctors within the Forensic and Secure Service.
- Communicate effectively with respect and in a timely manner with team members, clients and stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a psychiatrist with the Medical Board of Australia.
