The Application Manager, ICT and Data Services in the Public Health Intelligence Branch reports to the ICT Service Delivery Manager. The Application Manager is designated with the responsibility for the day-to-day management of applications, including the coordination and oversight of the planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance and support of the application.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the enterprise clinical information systems, ensuring its ongoing configuration, integration and performance meet operational, clinical and regulatory requirements. This includes troubleshooting technical issues, overseeing system upgrades, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders, and ensuring data integrity, interoperability and compliance.
  • Ensure the Application is operating in line with relevant application management policies and standards in alignment with documented and approved governance processes.
  • Serve as a primary service management interface, providing technical, functional and performance expertise.
  • Manage and implement a standardised process for all application and data access requests in accordance with relevant departmental, legislative, and information policies, as well as guidelines from the Application and Data Custodians.
  • Ensure the Application operates as per the agreed service level agreement (ensure application uptime service level objectives are met).

Report and escalate relevant matters, including concerns such as data or security breaches, to the Application Custodian(s), Data Custodian(s), and/or senior management, as required.

Role fit

The essential requirements for this role are:

  • Demonstrated expert level skills and experience in managing clinical and non-clinical applications and their integration with business requirements and technical environment in a large and complex service delivery environment. (SFIA: TECH Levels 6,7).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) processes based on the ITIL framework, primarily incident / problem / change / release / configuration management. (SFIA code: ITMG 6; USUP 5; CHMG 5).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse activities and priorities across organisational boundaries to ensure that service delivery meets agreed service levels in a customer focused ICT environment. Experience in negotiating and managing contracts and service level agreements with emphasis on a strong customer focus. (SFIA: SLMO Level 5).
