About the role

The Clinical Nurse – Crisis Stabilisation Unit provides expert clinical nursing care and leadership within Metro North Mental Health, supporting consumers experiencing acute mental health needs. The role delivers advanced, evidence-based and consumer-focused care within the Crisis Stabilisation Unit while promoting recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches to treatment and support.

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning, intervention and coordination of care for consumers with complex presentations. The role also supports the operational functioning of the unit through education, leadership, quality improvement activities and portfolio management while providing guidance and support to nursing and multidisciplinary team members in complex clinical situations.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide advanced clinical nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to support consumers experiencing acute mental health concerns.
  • Demonstrate leadership in clinical decision-making and provide support and direction to nursing staff in complex and rapidly changing situations.
  • Promote recovery-focused and trauma-informed care while delivering high-quality, consumer-centred mental health services.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, effective and coordinated care, discharge planning and positive consumer outcomes.
  • Contribute to education, quality improvement, research and service development activities that enhance clinical practice and service delivery within the Crisis Stabilisation Unit.
