About the role
As the Principal Dental Assistant, you will provide leadership to Senior Dental Assistants and their teams while contributing to strategic workforce planning, clinical governance and service development initiatives across the School Dental Service (SDS). Working collaboratively with the Principal Dental Officer, Operations Manager and peer Principal Dental Assistants, you will champion best practice and support the delivery of high-quality oral health services to children and young people across Metro North.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- The position as part of the SDS Leadership Team will contribute to strategic level management processes and provide relevant advice and assistance with strategies for performance improvement, implementation of policy initiatives, education and training, service delivery and development for strategic matters concerning dental assisting services.
- Using advanced communication skills and engagement strategies to influence a culture reflecting Metro North Values and a common vision and direction.
- Oversight of business processes contributing to stores management, equipment maintenance and repairs and assist with asset management and Health Technology Equipment Replacement (HTER) for SDS.
- Participate in the strategic implementation and monitoring of local, state and national policies and strategies relevant to dental assisting within SDS.
- Lead recruitment processes for dental assistants; back-fill opportunities, maintenance of staffing levels in line with budget requirements.
