About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more thatn 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane. 

Mareeba Hospital services a local population of approximately 10,500 people, and provides a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. The facility has an overnight capacity of 52 beds, including 12 maternity beds, as well as supporting clinical and diagnostic services such as allied health, medical imaging, pharmacy, and pathology. The Mareeba region features local attractions such as mountain bike riding, various wineries, and several coffee plantations, and is a short drive away from other scenic towns in the Atherton Tablelands region. 

The Mareeba Rodeo and Savannah in the Round are popular annual events that celebrate the town's vibrant culture. Located just 65km west of Cairns and its international airport, Mareeba provides all the essential amenities and services for a comfortable family lifestyle.

Mareeba Hospital provides healthcare services to the local community, supporting primary health centres and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. It offers emergency care, medical imaging, maternity, and medical wards, along with a variety of specialist outpatient services.

Mareeba East ward and Theatres provide a range of essential healthcare services, ensuring individuals in the community have access to quality care close to home. The ward offers inpatient medical, surgical, palliative, and rehabilitation care, alongside day procedure services to support patients requiring short-term interventions. 

About your role:

Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):

  • Direct patient care including ADLs and assessments.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate care plans
  • Management of pre- and post-surgical patients including preadmission clinic and anaesthetic assessments.
  • Recognising and responding to deteriorating patients.
