About the role

The Radiographer/Sonographer or Sonographer – Senior delivers a senior level ultrasound imaging service within the Department of Medical Imaging across the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). The role provides high-quality diagnostic imaging services within a large tertiary and quaternary healthcare environment, supporting a diverse range of patients across acute, emergency, surgical, women's health and rehabilitation services.

The successful candidate will perform complex ultrasound examinations, provide expert clinical judgement and contribute to the ongoing development of imaging services within the expanding Herston campus. The role also participates in after-hours and on-call services, supports education and training activities, and contributes to service improvement, quality initiatives and multidisciplinary patient care.

  • Deliver high-quality ultrasound imaging services across a range of specialty areas including general, emergency, women's health and breast imaging.
  • Apply advanced clinical judgement and independent decision-making skills to manage complex examinations and challenging clinical situations.
  • Provide a patient-focused, professional and timely imaging service while maintaining the highest standards of compassion, safety and clinical care.
  • Contribute to education, training and professional development activities that support capability growth within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Support service improvement, quality assurance and the development of evidence-based clinical practices, procedures and guidelines.
