What you'll do

As the Director, Allied Health Workforce, you will provide authoritative strategic leadership and expert advice on allied health workforce education, governance, policy and reform across Queensland. Working closely with the Chief Allied Health Officer and engaging with senior government leaders, Hospital and Health Service executives, professional associations, higher education providers and regulatory bodies, you will lead the development and implementation of complex, high-profile statewide workforce initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, capacity and service delivery. You will drive strategic partnerships, oversee allied health education and clinical training programs, influence policy, regulatory and professional frameworks, and identify opportunities to align workforce reforms with state and national priorities. In this role, you will negotiate and manage complex agreements, provide high-level ministerial and departmental advice, and lead the preparation of key briefing materials, policy documents and strategic submissions. You will also foster strong stakeholder relationships and ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with service quality standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and the evolving needs of Queensland communities.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of major, complex and high-profile allied health workforce and education policy and reform programs and initiatives in a strategic, state-wide capacity and manage large, complex contracts.
  • Demonstrated high level strategic leadership to drive and deliver strategic priorities and objectives through developing and overseeing the implementation of local, regional, statewide and national allied health initiatives and management of flow-on implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult and provide authoritative expert advice and guidance on complex allied health workforce and education policy and reform matters to internal and external stakeholders including government executives and peak organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically assess, develop, and implement state-wide government policy, strategies, protocols and priorities consistent with other relevant state and national government initiatives.
