What you'll do

As the Advanced Pharmacist, you will provide strategic leadership and expert advice to support the delivery and continual improvement of pharmaceutical services across Queensland. Working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior government officials, Hospital and Health Services, professional bodies and state and national committees, you will apply advanced knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practice to influence policy, service delivery and system-wide initiatives. You will lead and manage projects and programs that enhance pharmacy services, provide authoritative policy and professional advice, and ensure statewide pharmacy guidelines reflect current best practice, national standards and legislative requirements. Leveraging your high-level negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, you will advocate for optimal outcomes for Queensland Health, foster strong partnerships, and contribute to the ongoing development of safe, effective and sustainable medicines management practices across the state.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • a tertiary qualification, enabling registration as a pharmacist in Queensland, and possess current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Proven ability to provide advice applicable to multiple facilities at a statewide level on key medicines policies and programs such as the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, Pharmaceutical Reform Agreement and Section 100 (National Health Act) programs.
  • High level clinical knowledge, expertise and skill in all aspects of hospital and community pharmacy practice and Queensland Health's policy and legislative framework relating to pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practice.
  • Proven ability to apply high level judgement to synthesise information to provide written authoritative and verbal advice on complex issues and to prepare presentations, submissions and briefings on strategic initiatives to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability in advanced problem-solving skills using independent judgement and change management processes in the delivery of innovative and novel solutions in complex projects and an ability to manage multiple complex projects with a statewide impact.
