Project Manager - QCH Equipment Replacement

The Project Manager – QCH Equipment Replacement will lead the delivery of multiple large-scale equipment replacement and upgrade projects within a complex, fully operational paediatric hospital environment at Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH). Working in close partnership with the Program Manager – QCH Equipment Replacement and Divisional Leadership Teams across the Divisions of Surgery and Perioperative Services and Critical Care, this role will manage projects from concept through to construction, commissioning and completion. You will apply strong project governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement to ensure projects are achieved on time and within budget, while minimising disruption to critical clinical.

About the Team

The Critical Care team provides highly specialised clinical services, including Emergency Department, Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Anaesthetics, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology Services, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), CHQ Retrievals Service, Simulation Training Optimising Resuscitation for Kids (STORK) and Queensland Interdisciplinary Paediatric Persistent Pain Service. The team is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced and complex healthcare environment, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of critical and elective services across the hospital.

About the Role

In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

  • Lead the planning and coordination of a multi-year major program including the development, sequencing and maintenance of project plans, task schedules, milestones and timeframes aligned with agreed service delivery models.
  • Apply appropriate project and program management methodologies, tools and frameworks, including benefits realisation and risk and issue management, to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide effective advice and support to Divisional Leadership Teams, Subject Matter Experts and clinical stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and aligned to agreed objectives and benefits.
  • Establish governance and assurance frameworks aligned to the Timely Investment Infrastructure Maintenance (TIIM), Strategic Asset Management Plan and CHQ Master Plan.
  • Manage the consolidated program financial position and provide regular updates on project finances to relevant Steering Committee's and Divisional Leadership.
  • Develop, implement and maintain robust policies, processes, systems and internal controls to support safe, timely program delivery with minimal impact on clinical operations.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality briefings, reports, submissions, presentations and executive documentation of both a detailed and strategic nature.
  • Identify, monitor and manage program-level risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring appropriate controls, treatments and escalation pathways are in place.
  • Support the development and refinement of tools, processes and governance arrangements used by Divisional Leadership Teams to review, prioritise and sequence projects.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate communication, consultation and change management strategies, managing complex stakeholder environments with competing priorities.
  • Work collaboratively across functions, including engagement with Finance, Facilities and Infrastructure, Information Communication Technology, Building Engineering Maintenance, Biomedical Technology Services, Digital Health Services, Clinical Resource Services, Disaster and Disruption Management Unit contractors and clinical teams.
  • Maintain high-quality program documentation and accurate data through effective record management in accordance with CHQ HHS policies and procedures.
