About us:
Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) provides comprehensive primary and emergency healthcare to approximately 1,030 male prisoners across Capricornia Correctional Centre, Capricornia Correctional Farm and prisoner workcamps. The service responds to a diverse range of needs, including urgent and complex care, chronic disease management, preventative health and rehabilitation.
Working through a multidisciplinary, primary healthcare model, COHS supports prisoners throughout their time in the correctional system, from entry and transfers through to release into the community. The service prioritises those most in need, helping address health inequalities and provide equitable access to care within the unique security requirements of a correctional environment.
About the role:
- Coordinate cleaning and waste management services within the COHS health centre, ensuring a safe and functional environment for healthcare delivery.
- Train, direct and support prisoner cleaners while working within Queensland Corrective Services policies and procedures.
- Monitor cleaning schedules, stock levels, storerooms and equipment, using sound judgement to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Build strong working relationships with clinical and QCS staff and provide practical operational support, including transporting equipment, medical charts and consumables when required.
About you:
- Experience in cleaning and waste management within a healthcare or clinical environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to work safely within the unique correctional healthcare environment while maintaining high-quality cleaning standards.
- Strong ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate tasks for yourself and supervised prisoner workers, meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision while contributing positively within a broader team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and consumers and maintain a professional approach in varied situations.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $66,803 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $35.21 - $36.91 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
