Senior Administration Officer (Medical Records)

Step into a 12-month opportunity leading Medical Records at Rockhampton Hospital, where your expertise will help shape how vital health information is managed, protected and used. You’ll lead a team, strengthen systems, drive data quality and compliance, and turn opportunities for improvement into better ways of working across the hospital.
As part of this role, you’ll also be available to participate in the after-hours on-call roster when required, helping ensure the smooth management and coordination of the 24/7 Medical Records service.

About us:
Rockhampton Hospital provides a range of services to Rockhampton region. Our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy will see Rockhampton Hospital developed as a centre for emergency care, medical inpatient and day surgery excellence. This will optimise outreach services to deliver care closer to home in the Rockhampton and rural communities.
About the role:
- Lead Medical Records operations at Rockhampton Hospital, overseeing records management, workflows, staffing, rosters and day-to-day service delivery.
- Protect data quality and integrity by analysing, validating and auditing health information.
- Drive compliance and best practice, ensuring health records are managed in line with Australian Standards, legislation, policies and quality and safety requirements.
- Develop and support staff, coordinating competency training, performance management, KPIs, professional development and continuous improvement across the Medical Records team.
- Build strong partnerships and improve systems, working with clinical, administrative, IT, coding, revenue and health information teams to improve processes, data accuracy, service quality and operational outcomes.
About you:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in Health Information Management, Clinical Documentation, Records Archiving or a Management would be highly desirable.
- Highly proficient with computer-based information systems, with the ability to work independently, use sound judgement and manage competing priorities.
- Experienced in leading staff within complex environments while fostering a positive, equitable, safe and ethical workplace.
- Committed to delivering quality client service, taking initiative and guiding a team to achieve work unit goals efficiently and effectively.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $118,172 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $47.41 - $52.23 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
