What you'll do

As the Principal Program Officer, you will provide expert advice on complex and sensitive health workforce matters, supporting the development and implementation of workforce planning and policy initiatives across Queensland Health. You will prepare high-quality reports, submissions, and strategic communications, while building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, health professions, and industry representatives. Working collaboratively across teams, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of early career reform activities, foster a safe and inclusive workplace culture, and ensure all work aligns with Queensland Health's values, policies, and strategic priorities.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully apply project management approach to complex workforce planning and policy initiatives to achieve organisation wide outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health workforce issues including the needs of key population and workforce groups, and the functions and operation of a complex health service delivery agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and interpret workforce trends in relation to complex health system issues, develop high level health workforce policy and plans, and facilitate their implementation.
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to prepare briefings and reports of a substantial and complex nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise and engage with a range of government, industry and community stakeholders regarding the development of substantial workforce planning and policy initiatives. Highly developed negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to negotiate positive outcomes and establish effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
