About the role

The Oral Health Therapist delivers high quality oral health services to eligible patients within Metro North Oral Health Services as part of a multidisciplinary team. Working across a range of community-based and clinical settings, the role provides patient-centred oral healthcare while supporting positive oral health outcomes for children and young people within the School Dental Service.

The successful candidate will assess, diagnose and provide oral health treatments within their scope of practice, maintain accurate clinical records, and contribute to oral health promotion initiatives. They will also collaborate with patients, families and healthcare professionals, support less experienced practitioners where appropriate, and participate in quality improvement and research activities that enhance service delivery.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Deliver high-quality oral health therapy services across a diverse caseload in community and clinical settings while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
  • Apply clinical judgement and problem-solving skills to support effective assessment, treatment planning and delivery of oral healthcare services.
  • Accurately maintain patient records, clinical documentation and workload data to support service planning and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide integrated and patient-focused care.
  • Contribute to oral health promotion, quality improvement and research activities that support the ongoing development of oral health services.
