Your new role:

As the Shift Coordinator, you will provide leadership and operational coordination across the night shift, ensuring essential Operational Services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will supervise Operational Support Officers, coordinate daily activities and provide support to staff while assuming responsibility for the service in the absence of the Manager of Operational Services.

You will:

  • Coordinate and supervise Operational Support Officers across the night shift, ensuring workloads are prioritised and services are delivered effectively.
  • Support and oversee essential operational activities including cleaning, porterage, patient handling and related services.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to staff, including contributing to staff performance and development.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to maintain a safe, respectful and patient-focused environment.

About you:

We are looking for a confident and capable leader who can work independently, use initiative and effectively coordinate a team in a busy healthcare environment. You will bring strong communication skills, a practical approach and a commitment to delivering quality services to patients, visitors and staff.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise staff and take responsibility for a service in the absence of a manager.
  • Knowledge and practical ability in cleaning, porterage and patient handling, including the use of relevant equipment and supporting staff training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate care, consideration and respect when working with patients, the public and colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritise competing workloads, meet deadlines and work independently or collaboratively while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.

We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need. We'll have more beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned to be opened by 2027.
