About the role
The Social Worker - Maternity and Neonatology delivers high-quality, culturally appropriate social work services within the Women's and Newborn Services at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. The role supports patients, families and caregivers through the provision of evidence-based psychosocial assessment, intervention and advocacy to optimise health outcomes and reduce psychosocial risk.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide support across a range of complex clinical presentations, including domestic and family violence, child protection matters, termination of pregnancy, and grief and loss associated with pregnancy loss and neonatal death. The role also contributes to quality improvement, professional development and service enhancement activities that support excellence in patient care.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver comprehensive psychosocial assessment, risk management and social work interventions that support positive outcomes for patients and families.
- Apply specialist knowledge and experience in areas including domestic and family violence, child protection, grief and loss, and maternity-related psychosocial care.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with patients, carers, community organisations and external agencies.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice that enhance social work service delivery.
- Provide effective case management, discharge planning and advocacy while maintaining professional standards and ethical practice.
