About the Team

Established in 2014, the STORK team is the simulation outreach service for Children's Health Queensland.  We are a team of paediatric clinician educators with the mission to ensure that all children in Queensland receive optimal resuscitative care.

For us, this means both:

  • Delivering resuscitation education - ensuring that clinicians around the state have access to high quality, affordable paediatric resuscitation education
  • Diagnosing and advocating for system challenges - ensuring that clinicians around the state work in resuscitation systems that are well designed, effective and safe

About the Role

In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

PEOPLE

  • Role model positive workplace behaviour and comply with the Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrate advanced facilitation skills by facilitating immersive scenarios and debriefing participants, presenting lectures and workshops, and delivering training in technical and human factor skills.
  • Collaborate with Faculty and/or external parties to develop simulation-based education events, selecting the appropriate simulation delivery mode and content to achieve required learning objectives.

SERVICE

  • Provide leadership & oversight of medical aspects of the simulations to maintain fidelity and medical/physiological integrity.
  • Provide ethical decision-making and effective issues management and communication in the achievement of organisational goals, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Actively contribute to the hospital and health service and professional community.

SAFETY AND QUALITY

  • Ensure compliance with contemporary healthcare safety and quality standards and participate in CHQ HHS assurance processes including Accreditation.
  • Actively contribute to the delivery on the CHQ HHS Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Strategy as it applies to your service.
  • Model a ‘just' approach to staff, promoting open and honest identification of hazards and incidents, and taking action to address quality and safety gaps.
  • Participate in relevant peer service benchmarking and use relevant data to drive continuous improvement.

VALUE

  • Participate in the annual planning cycle for your service including the development of annual plans, implementation activities and review of performance against budget, activity and quality.
  • Explore innovative ways to improve value for money services.

RESEARCH

  • Lead research and quality assurance activities in the area of simulation and promote the development of a research culture.

Use research evidence to improve practice and care outcomes.
