BTS provides a comprehensive health technology management, service and support capability to Hospital and Health Services and other parts of Queensland Health through the state-wide delivery of biomedical engineering, diagnostic medical physics, and radiology support services.

About the role:

As a Senior Biomedical Engineer, you will be an integral part of a team delivering high level biomedical engineering services related to the use and management of healthcare technology.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide and coordinate high level biomedical engineering advisory services to clinical departments in relation to the management of health technologies and Australian Standards requirements in the health care environment.
  • Provide high-level advisory services and oversight in relation to health technology safety.
  • Lead clinical equipment incident investigation and other health technology related safety and quality initiatives.
  • Provide technical services including repairs, planned maintenance, installation, commissioning and other support for healthcare technology.
  • Provide high-level training and education to medical officers, nurses, health practitioners and other equipment users in the correct operation, user maintenance, and safe use of healthcare technology.
  • Provide supervision, training and support to fellow team members, including clinical practice supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members and managers, to achieve service delivery objectives.

Role fit:

You will bring advanced expertise in Chemical Pathology, applying high-level scientific judgement to analyse patient specimens, verify and validate results, and provide specialist advice to clinical teams to support quality patient care. You will contribute to the delivery of complex scientific services while maintaining professional standards, established procedures and service excellence. With strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, you will provide advice to laboratory staff and clients on service delivery and continuous improvement initiatives, while building effective professional relationships across multidisciplinary teams. You will also demonstrate proven leadership capability in managing human, financial and physical resources within a multidisciplinary laboratory environment, ensuring services align with the strategic objectives of Pathology Queensland.
