The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Distance Learning Teacher - Drafting to join our Engineering and Manufacturing team on a casual basis within our Engineering Educational Delivery team at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech at our Acacia Ridge campus.

This role provides high-quality training and assessment to students studying drafting qualifications through flexible and online delivery modes. 

This position is ideal for an industry professional who is passionate about developing future drafting professionals and supporting learners through distance education.

This position reports directly to the relevant Business Manager and Educational Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver training and assessment to distance learning students enrolled in drafting qualifications.
  • Maintain regular communication and support for students through email, telephone, Microsoft Team and other online learning platforms. 
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to support successful outcomes.
  • Develop, review and update learning and assessment resources where necessary to enhance student learning.
  • Ensure training and assessment practices comply with relevant regulatory, organisational and industry requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the drafting and engineering training area.

Mandatory Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Drafting as a minimum qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated industry experience within the engineering sector, including practical drafting knowledge and application.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students in a remote learning environment.
  • Experience using digital communication and collaboration platforms
  • The ability to work independently while managing student engagement and progression.

Highly Desirable

The following qualifications and experience would be considered advantageous:

  • Diploma Technical or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Advanced Diploma qualification in an engineering, drafting or related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience delivering vocational education and training (VET).
  • Experience developing learning resources, assessment materials and online learning content.
