About the role

The Clinical Assistant – Audiology contributes to patient care within the adult cochlear implant program and broader Audiology Department at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Working under the direct and indirect supervision of Audiologists, the role provides clinical and administrative support that assists in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred audiology services.

The successful candidate will support hearing assessment procedures, provide assistance to patients through face-to-face, telehealth and telephone interactions, and contribute to the maintenance of audiological equipment and clinical resources. The role also supports inpatient audiology services and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to specialised hearing healthcare within a multidisciplinary environment.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide clinical support activities including preparation for hearing assessments, delegated screening procedures and patient interventions under the supervision of an Audiologist.
  • Deliver professional and compassionate customer service while communicating effectively with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
  • Support inpatient and outpatient audiology services through hearing aid troubleshooting, assistive listening device management and coordination with external providers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, equipment, stock and infection control processes to support safe and effective service delivery.
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities, professional development opportunities and collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork.
