About the role

The Medical Officer – Minor Injuries & Illness Clinic provides high-quality, patient-centred medical care within the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic at the Kallangur Satellite Health Centre. Working as part of an innovative multidisciplinary service, the role delivers timely assessment, treatment and management of adults and children presenting with minor injuries and illnesses, helping ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

The successful candidate will practise with a high degree of clinical autonomy while working collaboratively with specialist hospital services, emergency medicine teams, primary care providers and other healthcare professionals. The role contributes to the delivery of contemporary urgent care services, supports quality improvement and clinical governance activities, and plays an important part in improving access to local healthcare services for the community.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide high-quality assessment, diagnosis, treatment and disposition of patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses within an approved Scope of Clinical Practice.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical judgement and decision-making skills while managing urgent presentations and recognising clinical deterioration.
  • Work collaboratively with hospitals, emergency departments, general practitioners and other healthcare providers to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and service development initiatives that enhance healthcare outcomes.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while maintaining excellent communication and professional relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
