What you'll do

As the Director, Capability Operations and Systems, you will provide strategic leadership for the delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of workforce capability and leadership development initiatives across Queensland Health. You will lead the design and implementation of scholarships, grants, professional development funding, and capability programs; oversee the procurement and management of learning platforms and service providers; and ensure effective program delivery, communication, reporting, and evaluation. Providing expert advice to senior executives, you will build strong stakeholder partnerships across Queensland Health and the broader sector to support key workforce priorities and organisational objectives. You will lead a high-performing team, foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and apply contemporary people management practices to deliver sustainable workforce capability outcomes while contributing to the broader strategic leadership of the division.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated strategic capacity to analyse and understand the performance of the Queensland Health system, to ensure workforce capability and leadership development products, platforms, systems and services are aligned to government priorities and deliver improved health outcomes for the population of Queensland.
  • Extensive experience with a proven record of achievement in a large, complex and decentralised service delivery organisation.
  • High level expertise, and extensive knowledge of national and international trends and initiatives relating to the improvement of the capability and leadership development of the health workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the strategic relationships with internal partners and external providers of capability development products, platforms, systems and services.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills including the ability to resolve conflict positively.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal skills, as well as good team building and policy networking skills.
