What your day could look like

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting safe and timely access to medicines for patients across our health service. From helping maintain medication supply to contributing to quality pharmacy operations, you'll work alongside pharmacists and healthcare teams to deliver positive patient outcomes every day.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Supporting the accurate and timely supply of medicines so patients receive the treatment they need without delay.
  • Helping maintain reliable medication inventory systems, ensuring pharmacy stock is available, compliant and well managed.
  • Contributing to the preparation, packaging and quality assurance of pharmacy products that support safe care delivery.
  • Working closely with pharmacists and colleagues to improve service efficiency and deliver high-quality pharmacy support across the health service.

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who brings care, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to supporting patient wellbeing. You take pride in getting the small things right because you know they make a big difference to patient care. Whether you're managing pharmacy stock, supporting medication supply or collaborating with colleagues, you lead with compassion, integrity and respect while embracing opportunities to learn and grow. You're not just looking for a job, you're looking for a chance to contribute to a team that makes a meaningful impact in its community.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support, or an accepted pharmacy qualification pathway.
  • Knowledge of medication dispensing processes, pharmacy legislation and pharmaceutical inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation skills and the ability to interpret prescriptions accurately.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to build positive working relationships and contribute to a supportive team environment. You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in a hospital pharmacy setting and/or experience supporting sterile production, pharmaceutical repackaging or specialised medication services.

Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage.
