About the role

The Psychologist provides high-quality psychological assessment, intervention and consultation services to medical and surgical inpatients and outpatients at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, the role supports patients with complex psychological and health-related needs, contributing to improved wellbeing, treatment engagement and overall health outcomes.

The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based psychological services, contribute to ongoing patient care and medical management, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated healthcare delivery. The role also provides opportunities to participate in clinical education, research, service planning and quality improvement initiatives within a large tertiary hospital setting.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide high-level psychological assessment, consultation, intervention and evaluation services for medical and surgical patients with complex care needs.
  • Apply professional judgement and evidence-based practice to manage a diverse and complex caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing specialist psychological expertise to optimise patient outcomes and continuity of care.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures, education activities and service initiatives that support high-quality psychological care.
  • Participate in research, professional development, quality improvement and clinical education activities that enhance service delivery and workforce capability.
