Provide advanced clinical support under the supervision of a pharmacist at West Moreton Health! The Rural Medication Management Advanced Scope Pharmacy Assistant role provides key support to rural health facilities. You will directly assist pharmacists with patient related care tasks in addition to managing stock and imprest portfolios for a defined clinical area.
Working as part of the rural pharmacy team, you will contribute to the safe, efficient, and sustainable supply of medicines across a range of rural sites while supporting high-quality patient care.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide advanced scope pharmacy assistant serviecs, assisting clinical pharmacists in components of the medicine management cycle (including management of imprest and stock portfolios in clinical areas, referral and liason with health care providers, dispensing, preparation of medication lists and medication counselling) in line with professional standards with appropriate training, supervision and competency assessment.
- Lead quality improvement activities including reviewing and updating procedures.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvements in medication management within clinical areas and assist with the implementation of quality improvement projects.
What we're looking for
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to apply advanced knowledge in pharmacy including knowledge of the health care system, advanced computer literacy, medical terminology, and general medical conditions.
- Ability to initiate, plan, perform and evaluate quality improvement activities under the guidance of a registered pharmacist.
- Ability to provide a defined range of advanced pharmacy services to people with variable health literacy, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Knowledge of pharmacy funding arrangements (including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Special Access Scheme), clinical trials management, good manufacturing practice and current Australian pharmacy professional standards and guidelines.
Mandatory Requirements
- Mandatory completion of an approved [HLT47115] Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support or higher/equivalent certificate relevant to hospital pharmacy and mandatory completion of [HLTPHA010] Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest module.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
