The Transit Procedure Unit (TPU) forms a key component of the Patient Access Unit team and plays a vital role in optimising patient flow and ensuring the effective use of inpatient bed capacity across Cairns Hospital. The TPU is designed to facilitate timely and appropriate patient discharges which is crucial to maintaining hospital access and equity of care.
In addition to its focus on discharge and flow, the TPU supports the multidisciplinary team by coordinating and delivering basic but essential patient care and procedures.
In this role you will..
- Provide nursing expertise and leadershipto help achieve unit specific and organisational goalss, key performance indicators and relevant standards.
- Support and assist the NM PFU to lead the team, drive change processes and assist in the efficient mananagment of human and material resources.
- Facilitate a learning environment by acting as clinica; resource, encouraging and supporting professional development and role medelling lifelomg learning.
- Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
