About the role

As a Registrar/Senior Registrar (Transition to Fellow) within the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH), you will undertake an accredited CICM Transition Year position designed to support your progression to independent specialist practice. Working closely with and under the supervision of experienced Intensive Care Specialists, you will lead the day-to-day management of critically ill patients while further developing advanced clinical, leadership, education and service improvement capabilities.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Work in the lead role for one ICU pod (9 patients) under the supervision of the ICU Specialist.
  • The registrar will be expected to participate in an after-hours roster.  This will incorporate a mix of remote-call and overnight on-site duty.
  • To be available for advice to RMO and registrar staff where necessary including patient reviews, clerking, discharge summaries, maintaining charts, ordering and reviewing results and investigations
  • To assess and define clinical problems in the critically ill in the broader context and develop and facilitate a diagnostic and management plan
  • Assist in managing workflow of interns and registrars and ensure timely collation of results of investigations
