About the role

Lead a team that helps deliver essential oral healthcare services to school-aged patients across Metro North. Based within the School Dental Service, this role combines hands-on clinical dental assisting with workforce leadership, operational coordination and service improvement, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused care across fixed clinics and mobile dental facilities.

Working closely with Dental Officers, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Assistants and service leaders, you will play a key role in maintaining high clinical standards, supporting staff development and ensuring the smooth operation of dental services. Approximately 40-50% of the role involves clinical duties, providing the opportunity to remain actively engaged in patient care while contributing to broader service management responsibilities.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide high-level chairside assistance and clinical support across a broad range of oral health procedures and patient care activities.
  • Lead, supervise and support Dental Assistants through workforce management, performance development, training and mentoring initiatives.
  • Coordinate the operation of fixed clinics and dental vans, including maintenance, equipment management, stock control and service support activities.
  • Monitor infection control, sterilisation, radiography and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with oral health clinicians, managers and stakeholders to support service delivery, workforce capability and achievement of operational objectives.

Benefits when working for us

  • Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
  • Flexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increases
  • Benefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packaging
