The Occupational Therapist will: - Deliver quality paediatric occupational therapy services across the continuum of care to patients and families of the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service as part of a team of occupational therapists or within an inter-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary team, to provide tertiary level health services to children and adolescents. - This position is a designated training position. It has a focus on acquiring skills and knowledge in paediatric Occupational Therapy, particularly in relation to acute tertiary services. You will be provided with ongoing professional support and mentorship from an advanced Occupational Therapist throughout the duration of the position.

About the Team

As part of the Allied Health team our tertiary paediatric acute occupational therapy service provides high level care, based on evidence-based practice and international standards of care. Advanced clinicians are available in all occupational therapy teams, whilst supervision and governance are underpinned by National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards. Subspecialty teams provide patient centred management to develop programs specifically individualised to the child and family's unique needs that can be delivered as outpatients, day patients, inpatients, or via telehealth.

About the Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

Clinical Practice

• Acquire skills and knowledge to deliver quality occupational therapy clinical services across a variety of caseloads in an acute hospital setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
• As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making, under the clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
• Participate, as required, in state-wide outreach services.

Communication / Team Participation

• Work cooperatively and effectively within the occupational therapy and /or multidisciplinary and /or inter-disciplinary team and with patients / clients.
• Communicate with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, assistants, students and researchers across the hospital, home, school, community, and other settings across the state, as relevant to your service area.
• Accurately and concisely record all patient interaction as well as workload measurement statistics, to facilitate the analysis of service trends.

Leadership / Professional Development

• Support student education and clinical practice supervision processes commensurate with level of experience, as well as provide direction to assistant, support staff and students, under guidance of senior clinical practitioners.
• Actively participate in the occupational therapy and /or multidisciplinary and /or interdisciplinary team clinical environments to ensure that occupational therapy services are integrated, efficient and equitable for the community serviced.
• Actively participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality improvement activities for the delivery of occupational therapy and allied health services within the local service area.
