About the role

As the Senior Psychologist, you will provide evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention services to residents participating in rehabilitation and recovery programs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support consumers to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to transition successfully into the community and achieve greater independence. You will deliver both individual and group-based therapeutic interventions while collaborating closely with families, carers, community supports and clinical stakeholders to promote positive recovery outcomes.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Referral, liaison and collaboration with other healthcare services, government and community agencies including advocacy to promote consumer and family / carer identified needs to support the continuum of care.
  • Contribute to and participate in the CCU rehabilitation program supporting the recovery goals of residents to reduce the impact of psychosocial stressors/mental illness/alcohol and other drug needs on their functioning and lifestyle and promote sustainable community tenure.
  • Provide high-level psychology advice and education to the multidisciplinary team, operational supervisors, and key stakeholders regarding professional standards and clinical service development to facilitate optimal consumer care and outcomes and assist with the promotion and development of educational opportunities and collegial support.
  • Utilise effective communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with residents, government and non-government support agencies, the multidisciplinary team, externally, and within the psychology professional group.
  • Participate in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality and service improvement / research activities within the RCCCU and wider Metro North Mental Health Service that continually improve consumer care and enhance the delivery of services within a multidisciplinary team and the service.
