About the role
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will play a critical role in supporting some of Queensland's most vulnerable individuals at the intersection of mental health and the justice system. Working within the Court Liaison Service (CLS), you will provide specialist mental health screening, assessment, consultation and diversion services to people appearing before Magistrates Courts or detained in police watch houses. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where your assessments and recommendations can have a significant impact on an individual's access to treatment, recovery pathways and engagement with appropriate support services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Undertake mental health assessments (including those people with complex psychosocial circumstances) in watch house and court settings by using a high degree of independent judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Apply professional judgement to complex cases, utilising evidence based clinical practice.
- Work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team; with police and justice personnel and with patients/clients.
- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
- Monitoring and reporting on clinical practices and outcomes within the Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service (QFMHS) and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities.
