About the role

The Operating Theatre Assistant provides essential operational support within the Perioperative Unit at Caboolture Hospital, helping to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of surgical services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role is responsible for maintaining theatre readiness, supporting patient movement and positioning, and assisting with the preparation of procedure rooms and equipment in accordance with established standards and procedures.

The successful candidate will contribute to a safe and effective operating theatre environment by supporting infection control practices, maintaining equipment and stock, assisting with patient transfers, and ensuring theatre areas are clean and prepared for procedures. This role plays a key part in supporting positive patient outcomes and the smooth operation of perioperative services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Prepare and set up operating theatres and procedure rooms with required equipment and consumables.
  • Clean and maintain perioperative environments, equipment rooms and stock areas to infection control standards.
  • Assist with the safe transfer and positioning of patients between theatre, PACU, ICU and holding bays.
  • Operate within workplace health and safety requirements while supporting a safe surgical environment.
  • Manage theatre supplies, linen and waste handling processes to support efficient theatre operations.
