About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high-level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane. The Health Service is the primary provider of health services to residents of the Cairns, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions with a population of over 250,000 people, as well as providing specialist services to the Torres Strait and Cape York region. Cairns Hospital is the primary referral hospital for Far North Queensland.

About your opportunity: 

As Director, Cairns Hospital Redevelopment Stage 1B, you will represent CHHHS in the delivery of more than $1 billion in new hospital infrastructure. Partnering with Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ), you will provide strategic leadership to ensure the successful planning, design, construction, commissioning and operational integration of this transformational investment. The redevelopment includes the Health Innovation & Surgical Centre, Health Management Hub and staff multi-storey car park, creating a lasting legacy for healthcare in Far North Queensland.
 
About you:
 
In your new role you will....
  • Be accountable and lead end-to-end operational commissioning and service integration, including clinical service transition, workforce readiness, models of care translation, workflow redesign, digital integration, change management, and ‘go-live' planning to enable safe, efficient service commencement.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance, risk, and assurance frameworks, including identification, escalation, and mitigation of clinical, operational, financial, and delivery risks.
  • Provide oversight of financial performance, including budget alignment, cost pressures, and value optimisation to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes within approved funding parameters, while supporting the development of robust investment cases for future stages of the Cairns Hospital Master Plan, including the strategy and timing of supporting infrastructure and property acquisitions.
