About your role

As a Principal House Officer/Registrar within the Surgery Department, you'll play an important role in delivering safe, high-quality care to surgical patients while working under the supervision of experienced specialists.

You will:

  • Provide clinical care to surgical patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Conduct ward rounds, coordinate ongoing care and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Work closely with treating specialists to plan and deliver effective patient care.
  • Participate in on-call and night shift rosters, with hours negotiable for the appointment.
  • Support clinical education, audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

We're looking for a motivated medical professional who is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-focused surgical care and continuing to develop their clinical expertise.

You will bring:

  • Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and patient management skills.
  • Excellent communication, handover and clinical escalation skills.
  • A patient-focused approach grounded in empathy, respect and professionalism.
  • Ability to supervise, teach, mentor and provide feedback to junior staff.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and safe clinical practice.

Redland Hospital is the major health centre for adults and children in the Redlands and Brisbane's southern bayside suburbs. We provide a range of services including emergency care, primary health and minor injury care, acute and subacute medicine, general surgery, maternity and paediatric, mental specialist outpatient and mental health care.
