About the role

As Manager Workplace Health and Safety, you will provide strategic leadership and expert advice across the North West Hospital and Health Service, driving a contemporary approach to workplace health, safety, wellbeing and rehabilitation. You'll lead a specialist team and partner with executives, managers and stakeholders to strengthen safety culture, manage emerging risks and deliver measurable improvements across a diverse regional health service.

  • Lead and influence the development and implementation of integrated WHS strategies, systems and initiatives across the NWHHS.
  • Provide expert strategic advice to senior leaders and managers on WHS legislation, risk, safety assurance, emerging issues and organisational performance.
  • Lead and develop a specialist team, building capability and consistency in risk management, incident response, rehabilitation and safety practice.
  • Drive continuous improvement and safety culture, using data, assurance activities and strong stakeholder partnerships to achieve meaningful and enduring outcomes.

Requirements

  • While not mandatory, qualifications in work health and safety will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant hands-on experience with more than five (5) years in work health and safety and injury management is required.
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Occasional travel within the District or State will be necessary to fulfil the role including obligations to complete training, participate in networks, or to conduct health and safety audits/investigations.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
