About us:
The Paediatric and Adolescent Department provides evidence-based care for children and young people across the Cairns and Hinterland community.
We deliver care across a broad range of specialties, including general medicine, respiratory, endocrinology, mental health, surgery, orthopaedics, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) services.
All nursing staff employed within the department work across the Paediatric and Adolescent ward, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care.
About your role:
- Assessment, planning and delivery of care for an allocated patient load.
- Supporting activities of daily living and providing patient and family education.
- Medication administration, complex wound care, and pre- and post-procedural care.
- Phlebotomy, cannulation, IV therapy, and the recognition and management of deteriorating patients.
- Discharge planning, risk management, and implementation of care plans.
- Participation in National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) quality improvement activities.
