About us:

Specialist Outpatients Department (SOPD) at Rockhampton Hospital spans three levels and provides specialist care across nine major specialties, including Cardiology, Ear, Nose and Throat, General Surgery, General Medicine, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Urology. The service also supports a range of visiting and telehealth clinics, including Pacemaker, Respiratory, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease services.

SOPD works closely with hospital, community and statewide services to coordinate care, including Allied Health, Cancer Care, Renal Services and Child Safety. The team also collaborates across CQHHS and with other Queensland Hospital and Health Services to ensure patients receive appropriate specialist care as close to home as possible.

About the role:

  • Provide person-centred, evidence-based nursing care within the EN scope, applying advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the Day Surgery environment and working collaboratively with the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, risk management, quality improvement and the review of nursing standards, procedures and systems, while supporting and mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Promote lifelong learning, provide health education to patients and carers, and support the education and development of colleagues.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, contribute to team leadership and decision-making, and work collaboratively to support practice change, clinical innovation and best-practice outcomes.

About you:

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse, with contemporary clinical knowledge, skills and an ongoing commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrate positive role modelling, a solutions-focused approach and the ability to contribute to planning, resource management and the development of self and others.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, resolve issues and build effective relationships across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures while working collaboratively to promote a positive team environment and high-quality contemporary nursing care.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $99,978 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $44.64 - $44.19 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
