Digital Metro North is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to provide leadership and expertise in financial management, corporate governance and business planning, including high-level analysis and advice. You will support effective financial and resource management, reporting and performance, ensuring services align with Digital Metro North and Metro North Health strategic and operational priorities.

Digital Metro North is the technology and digital delivery arm of Metro North Health, Australia's largest hospital and health service. The team works closely with clinicians and partners including eHealth Queensland to deliver the systems, infrastructure and support that enable safe, high-quality patient care every day.

Driving a significant digital transformation agenda, Digital Metro North is currently implementing the integrated electronic Medical Record (ieMR) across the health service, delivering major digital initiatives under the Queensland Government's Hospital Rescue Plan, and executing the three-year Digital Delivery Plan. These programs are shaping a connected, digital-first healthcare environment that supports new models of care, improves patient outcomes and enhances clinician experience.

About the Role 

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will provide leadership and expertise in financial management and corporate governance activities and actively participate in the management of key relationships of a business nature. The successful candidate will provide high level business management analysis and advice enabling the service line to deliver quality, cost effective services that are consistent with the strategic and operational directions of Digital Metro North (DMN) and Metro North Health.

• Experience in the use of excel is highly desirable.
• Experience in a health care setting in a business or service delivery environment would be well regarded.
• This role is full time with the standard hours of operation being 8:00am – 4:06pm, Monday to Friday.
• Flexible working arrangements such as variable working hours, working from home and flex accrual may be supported.

Key knowledge and experience

The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Support DMN in developing and implementing annual business plans (incorporating, workforce, quality requirements, operating and capital budgets).
• Provide monthly reporting analysis and advice on DMN and cost centre performance in terms of expenditure, Full Time Equivalent (FTE's) and activity highlighting relevant variances.
• Undertake operational performance management activities (including data analysis and investigation, the provision of regular reports and recommendations to Executive and Cost Centre Managers) by monitoring and analysing data from relevant information systems in relation to project programmes, budget, financial position and forecasts, human resource and workplace health and safety indicators.
• Provide a high level of financial and business advisory support including analysis of budget trends and investigation of variances. Present quality financial, staffing and activity data compared to budgets, targets, benchmarks and key performance indicators.
• Actively participate in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices.
• Support the implementation of continuous process improvement activities within DMN.
• Provide strategic advice to DMN teams and committee/s on matters relating to services within the area of responsibility.
